Awakening Love!

I was thinking about this verse today. It's so powerful and moving and I think it bears the thoughts of what God thinks.

“I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles or the does of the field, that you not stir up or awaken love until it pleases.” - Song of Songs 2:7 ESV

What does that mean? "awaken love"? Is it sleeping? In the act of being in love, we awaken it with our thoughts and our actions. We pursue the actions of demonstration of being in love and we look at how we are to pursue our lover.

Sometime's we are so arrogant and uncomprehensive about what were doing with the opposite sex, that we break into a relationship without even thinking. I remember when I was a kid and I read that book, "I Kissed Dating Goodbye", I hated it. Everyone in my youth group did too. We had some dude, telling us that we weren't suppose to have gf/bf's. What the heck? Who are you dude? What have you done to tell me that I can't shop around? I hated it.

It's funny though now, I think about that book and how God has predestined everyone of us to be in love with him, and when the time comes, to be able to awaken love with someone else, and have a healthy, pure and honest relationship together towards him. Some don't believe that. Some think it's okay to open that heart and let someone swoon in really quick and it be okay.

I'm one of those people. I have had my heart taken by girl's and in return some have stepped on it. Forgiveness was a key factor in all of this, but I bet you anything that if I had never awakened that love.

Let love be awakened by the Father and choose to have a pure and Holy heart towards God.
